LA Galaxy manager Bruce Arena has revealed that he is extremely embarrassed after his team only managed a 3-2 defeat at the hands of San Jose Earthquakes.
It was a match that they should have won comfortably after they were leading the match 2-1 with only a few minutes to go. However, they conceded two goals in the final few minutes to lose the match 3-2. The team looked completely in control of the match going into the last 30 min. Marcelo Sarvas had given the lead for LA Galaxy in the 19th minute.
It was doubled by the goal from Jiménez in the 64th minute. It looked like LA Galaxy were heading for a comfortable three points that would have seen them close the gap on the likes of Dallas and Vancouver Whitecaps. The comeback from San Jose did not start until the 67th minute when Gordon pulled one back for the team. Even then, LA Galaxy were in control of the match. However, Arena was left stunned when his team conceded two goals in the last few minutes of the match to lose the encounter.
Salinas scored just before the injury time, while Gordon once again scored in injury time to give San Jose an unbelievable victory. This was spectacular considering Bernárdez was given a second yellow card in the 77th minute. Once Salinas’s move to England has been completed then it might be worth having a bet top goalscoere of the season – he has such class!
“Poor play, a lack of intelligence by our team. The longer you play this game, the more you see games like that, where one team dominates and you don’t score, and the next thing you know, you’re on the losing end. To have a team of players and coaches that are that poor and stupid in the last five minutes of a game, that’s my responsibility. It can’t be on anybody else but me,” said Arena.
